History
« Aline », « Capri c’est fini », « J’entends siffler le train », « Mes mains sur tes hanches », « Tes tendres années », « L’école est finie », « Ma vie », etc. Remember all these tunes sung by Johnny Halliday, Sheila, Richard Antony, Adamo, Christophe, among others, which marked the 60’s, also known as the “yéyé years”. At that time the youth was discovering new rhythms from Great Britain and America. At the same time black and white TV was developing, broadcasting such programs as « Age tendre et tête de bois », « Intervilles », « Belphégor », « Cinq colonnes à la une » etc.
That was the time of the broadcast « Salut les copains » we used to hear everyday on Europe 1.
It was the time of the French New Wave cinema.
It was the time of the Algerian War.
It was the time of love... and adventure.
It was also the time of the Scopitone, a popular and fabulous machine we used to find in French cafés. Imagine, with one coin, we could listen to and watch on screen the stars of the times (in more or less felicitous productions)
Better than a juke-box, a big step towards « modernity »
The project
After having found and repaired one of those Scopitones, we had the idea of exploiting its 60’s flavour. Thus, we undertook the creation of 20 replicas of Scopitone. Our intention is to produce poetical and humorous sound super-8 films. Of course, the soundtrack will consist of songs exclusively composed and sung for « La vie c’est scopitone ».
Two types of presentation:
1- In the form of a tour, the machines being installed in various places of a district: cafés, shops, reception halls etc…
2- In the form of an installation, « le Paradis du Scopitone », with for example:
- Performances in the style of talent shows.
- Fake-real documentaries about the French New Wave.
- Fake-real song idols.
- A small exhibition of objects of the times.
